Our next gathering was due to take place on Saturday 3rd October 2020 at Lowe Memorial Hall in Finaghy, Belfast. Unfortunately, the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic mean that it is not yet advisable to gather in large numbers, particularly if persons are unwell or vulnerable.

Instead, our meeting will go ahead on Saturday 3rd October 2020 at 11:00am via Zoom.

The Zoom meeting will offer you an opportunity to see everyone, to hear progress updates from OGCancerNI and clinicians, and listen to short talks from friends and colleagues including:
• Karen Kelly, Assistant Service Manager for Cancer Health & Wellbeing
• Clare Murphy from the Move More programme
• Michelle Casement from ‘Make the Call’ benefit advice service

What is Oesophago-Gastric Cancer?

Oesophageal cancer is cancer of the gullet and gastric cancer is cancer of the stomach. Combined, they are medically known as oesophago-gastric (OG) cancer. The oesophagus (more commonly known as the gullet or food pipe) is the long tube that carries food from the throat to the stomach. In Northern Ireland in 2016, a total of 226 people were diagnosed with oesophageal (gullet) cancer. In the same year, 214 people were newly diagnosed with gastric (stomach) cancer.
