Wellbeing Meeting
March 30, 2019 @ 10:30 am - 1:00 pm
FreeSpeaker: Dr Alyson Williams
Speaker: Dr Richard Turkington
Alyson Williams is Team Lead Physiotherapist with the Belfast Trust. She encourages a ‘whole person’ approach to health and wellbeing to encourage and help recovery. She will be guiding us through the importance of exercise pre- and post-surgery. Alyson is also organising the Oesophageal Run/Walk which will take place on 9th June.
Dr Richard Turkington is Clinical Senior Lecturer in Medical Oncology at Queen’s University, Belfast. Richard will be talking to us about clinical trials for oesophageal and gastric cancer and they will also give information about the new treatments coming through.
We will be updating you on exciting new developments including our new information stand at Outpatients, our fresh OGCancerNI Awareness Campaign and cycle challenge, Oesophacycle 2019.
We will be providing soup and sandwiches after the event to give everyone plenty of time to mingle, ask questions, give and receive advice and make new friends. As ever, if there are any questions you would like to submit in advance, please call or email Valerie (details below).
We understand that many patients and carers live some distance from the venue and we have done our best to come to an arrangement with the hotel. Discounted rates are available by contacting Beechlawn reception on 028 9060 2100 and telling them you are an Ogcancerni member.
To allow for numbers for the catering, please confirm your attendance at the meeting by telephone to Valerie on 028 9020 8602 or by email to lyricalvalerie@googlemail.com
