Volunteer

You have offered to complete the tasks for OGCancerNI in the role description as a volunteer without remuneration.

As a volunteer, OGCancerNI would like you to:

• Undertake your agreed volunteer role to your best ability
• Treat everyone you come into contact with as part of your volunteering activity, including staff and fellow volunteers, fairly and with respect
• Adhere to policies and procedures pertinent to your role
• Act as an ambassador for OGCancerNI and not act in a way that could damage the reputation of the association and the services we provide
• Prioritise your personal health and safety and those you may come into contact with during their volunteer role
• Be able to provide evidence of your right to work in the UK  and proof of your qualifications and professional membership relevant to the tasks you are delivering
• Be able to provide a copy of your professional indemnity insurance for pro bono work if you are volunteering in a professional capacity, e.g. giving advice
• Transfer your work in this role to the ownership of OGCancerNI
• Ensure that you have business insurance cover in place for your car if you use it for specific volunteering tasks

As an organisation we will:

• Provide volunteers with a clear written description of their role and its responsibilities
• Provide appropriate induction, training and support, specific to each individual role
• Ensure that the health and safety of our volunteers is managed
• Have insurance cover in place for volunteer activities in respect of liability, but not volunteers belongings or motor car insurance
• Provide every volunteer with access to support from a named member of staff
• Provide volunteers with a Volunteer Guide and copies of any policies and procedures appropriate to their role
• Sign a clear Volunteer Agreement that outlines our agreed expectations
• Reimburse expenses in line with our Volunteer Expenses policy
• Celebrate our volunteers’ impact and success
• Treat all volunteers in accordance with our Equality and Diversity Policy
• Communicate with our volunteers respectfully and with a mutually agreed frequency
• Attempt to resolve any concerns or grievances swiftly and positively
• Maintain a welcoming, supportive and dynamic atmosphere that makes OGCancerNI a positive place to volunteer

The agreement will end if*:

• you no longer wish or are able to volunteer
• we feel you are no longer able to fulfil the remit of your role safely or appropriately
• undertake activities, such as unauthorised fundraising*, that are damaging to the reputation and operations of the charity
• any criminal record checks we require show areas of risk for us as an organisation
